Designing a revolutionizing digital business cards


Overview

CardZap is a cutting-edge digital business card-making app that empowers users to create professional and personalized business cards effortlessly. With an intuitive interface, users can input their details, including email address, mobile number, website, social handles, and profile photo, to generate visually appealing digital business cards.

Challenge

In the initial release, the challenge was to provide users with a simple and effective tool to create digital business cards, fostering a seamless networking experience. The goal was to address the limitations of traditional paper business cards and offer a modern, environmentally friendly alternative.

Solution - version 1.0

User-friendly design:

  • The app was designed with a user-friendly interface, allowing users to input and edit their details with ease.

  • Integration of profile photos and social handles added a personal touch to the digital business cards.

Sharing options:

  • Users could share their digital business cards via a unique link or QR code, facilitating quick and efficient networking.

Version 2.0 - Introducing premium templates and subscription model

Premium templates:

  • Recognizing the need for enhanced customization, version 2.0 introduced premium templates with unique layouts and background images, elevating the visual appeal of the digital business cards.

Additional features in subscription model:

  • Users could unlock advanced features such as the ability to add notes, removal of watermarks, tracking card views, and shares through a subscription model.

Enhanced user experience:

  • Premium templates and additional features enriched the user experience, providing more options for personalization and professional branding.

Results

Increased engagement:

  • The introduction of premium templates and subscription features led to a significant increase in user engagement as users sought to enhance the visual aesthetics and functionality of their digital business cards.

Monetization and sustainable growth:

  • The subscription model proved to be a successful monetization strategy, generating revenue that fueled ongoing app development and improvements.

Positive user feedback:

  • Users expressed satisfaction with the enhanced features, highlighting the app's value in creating unique and eye-catching digital business cards.

Future roadmap
  • Continuous updates and additions to premium templates, ensuring the app remains at the forefront of digital business card creation.

  • Exploring additional features and integrations based on user feedback to further enhance the app's functionality.

Conclusion - what I learned from this project

CardZap has successfully transformed the landscape of digital business cards, providing users with a powerful yet easy-to-use tool for creating professional and visually stunning representations of their professional identity. The strategic introduction of premium templates and a subscription model not only addressed user needs but also contributed to the app's sustained growth and success.

Navigating ambiguity. I was not previously familiar with the loyalty apps in the Philippines so I had to spend time learning about the market and the users. I worked closely with the researcher based out of the Philippines to help get myself the information I needed to be successful with the project.

Contributing to the design system. I spent a lot of time getting familiar with the Tala design system and worked very closely with the brand team and system designer to contribute to the system which was still a work in progress.
